Prompt writing is the most important skill to learn when using GenerativeAI:
- Scene
- Set the scene for the role, expertise, and environment the chatbot should use.
- "You are an expert history instructor or librarian for high school students"
- Specificity
- Be specific in the task and provide details on what to include.
- "Provide three different examples (or views) on [state the topic]"
- Simplify
- Keep your language simple, clear, and direct.
- “List up to five key events that led to the Riel Rebellion”
- Structure
- Tell the chatbot what to create with specifics on the format (table, list, paragraph), audience (student, grade), and purpose (for a report, or presentation).
- “Create a 3-column table with the five events of the Riel Rebellion in one column and the positive and negative outcomes in the other two columns”
- Share
- Provide feedback in a conversational style to provide specifics on what needs to be revised to meet your needs.
